Easterholiday

ROC LAISSAGAIS

It's becoming a tradition to start our season on the beautiful trails in France. This year was less windy, but we got a mud bath instead this year. The last 24h before the race we had rain, rain and some more rain.

Luckily on sunday it stopped, but the tracks and trails were soaked. So it didn't take long before we were covered in mud.

My goal was to get in the top 5 but heavy conditions on a demanding course seemed to be a litlle too much for the first race. I was able to keep a steady pace, but to enter the top 5 it was to slow. It took me 5h30 to get to the finishline 8th place.

Peter suffered from some back issues, but decided to start and see how it would turn out. On a flat course it wouldn't have been such a problem but in Laissac the course is everything but that. The muddy conditions didn't make it any easier and if that wasn't enough his rear brake was toast after 3 hours. So DNF for that one.
Up to the next.

TRAINING IN LUXEMBOURG

Our initial plan to stay in France after ROC Laissagais was off the charts,  meteo was not super good and we had some bike repairings to do. With help from Bikepit we got it fixed in no time. And Peters' back got better after a visit to the fysio. Great hands at Manuele Praktijk.

After some recovery days we headed to Luxemburg  for a few days just over the border and train on climbing. Peter spent a lot of time here during his younger years (100 years ago) and loves to come back here.

For the first time we decides to do a piece of the Müllerthal trail, which actualy is a walking path, but it is legal to ride them with your bike. Some sections are quite technical and sometimes impossible to ride, but that's part of what we do.

Cold but sunny and believe us or not, we even had snow on our rides. But we loved it and enjoyed it.
After our training rides we took time for some R&R.

EASTERWEEKEND

Saturday the cyclo version of De Brabantse Pijl started at our doorstep , so we choose to ride the short distance of  75K which was a great last training before our next competition on monday.
During our ride we bumped into some familiar faces, so it became a sunny ride with nice company!

Nice trainingride

Familiar faces ...

Sunday was restday and time to get our camper packed to leave for Grand-Halleux...

La Halloniene

Peter decided to ride the short distance 45K

I was keen to start on the long distance. A tough parcours, but sunny weather, so for the very first time I got to finish this race.
In the past I had all kind of problems and had to abandon the race, but not this year. I finished and had a better feeling than the previeus race, but I am still not satisfied with her climbing performance.

Result: 5th place
