WC XCM preparation in Rhens

After some weeks of training, prepping the bike and getting myself fit for part two of the competition season we decided to go ride in Rhens, near Koblenz Germany. A rather fast track but in a beautiful scenery alongside the Rhein and sponsored by our bike brand CANYON.
A perfect race to check the bikes and legs for next weeks UCI World Championships.

On Saturday we left with the camper, luckily it's only a 3 hour drive to get to the cute little village with medieval houses of Rhens.

Of course we were not the only Belgium riders present. Our Trust Team friends were camping next to us, so we went out eating for dinner.

Peter and I went for the long ride of 80KM a fast race with some nice single tracks and challenging downhills between vineyards.

After 80 dusty KM we reached the finish. I was third overall and second in my age class. It wasn't really clear at what time we needed to be at the podium ceremony so I decided not to shower and just wait for my turn. Luckily the camper wasn't so far a way and Peter, amazing as he is went to get me a clean shirt and a towel to clean me up a bit.

We'll be certainly back next year.

PS: spirits high for next week  ðŸ˜‰
