Prepping for ROC D'ARDENNE

Since Roc Laissagais, which was a test after a voluminous trainingblock, we had no competitions, only more intense training rides on and off road, TRX sessions and running. And long interval sessions on the rollers.

We immediately got back to training for our next big race.

Interval sessions made my rollers smoke...💥💨
Two days later a colleague of Peter organised a road ride in Ypres. I  had never been to that mythic place so no excuses for not going.

Leaving early and having breakfast in the car
Looking for poppies 🌸 without success

Ypres Cathedral. In the back 😜

Poppies after all

During the weekend we hesitated to do a Chrono race on the MTB not so far from where we live, but after turning up late for the start we decided to ride the same ride but little less stressed with stops at the best food stations we every saw.

too much choice... Eggs, sweets, cake, fruit,...

Happy Peter
After Easter break I had to get back to work so we switched back to our timed training schedule filled with fitness, running, biking and bike maintenance.

Lube your pedals

Last weekend we added the last altitude meters to get the legs super ready for Houffalize. Like true roadies we conquered the hills from Liège- Bastogne- Liège.
La Redoute, Saint Nicolas, La Roche aux Faucons,...
All names we hear about when the pros are riding their race on sunday. Now we had the chance to ride this one together.
Different from most riders we were riding it with no front derailleur. 1X is our new standard.

To finish off the weekend we took time to shred some trails...

Now first taper of the season, and hopefully all goes well till sunday.

Weather conditions are not promising. Rain and wind they foresee. 😕

I'll end with this bombshell, and tell you about the Roc d'Ardennes next week.
