MTB season is here...

Two weeks ago we started racing again...

First race of the season was in Grand-Halleux, 'La Hallonienne'.
We raced here before but it never resulted in hapiness; cramps, crashes, flats,... and most of the time DNF.
To start this season we were in need of a good day this year. So in the morning we decided to race the short distance or 45K. Not because of our physical condition, but the last few days it rained a lot.

After the race this was the best option taken in decades... 😄

So 15 minutes after the big crowd for the long distance we started our own muddy ride.
Not looking after a result but a good intensive training, we rode 'smart' and tried to ride with smooth pedaling in mind.

'Smooth' appeared not to be the perfect word, slippery, wet and muddy was. We expected this but we're good at muddy trails so no worries.

We didn't really plan to ride together but after a few K's Peter and I were once again stuck together to the finish line. "To team or not to team, that's the question."

After about 3 hours we reached the finish, no cramps, not flats or crashes this year. And a second place for me so our plan worked out this time!
