BeMC 2016

I can not be short this time, so sit back, relax and enjoy the reading...

Great organisation

Our sponsor is event sponsor too

Last weekend was National holiday Mountain bike day in La Roche en Ardenne.
Three days of hard racing by more than 500 bikers coming from more than 20 different countries.

For me it was my fourth participation in this race, and I was always glad I made it to the finish on Sunday. This year wasn't going to be any different.

We left on Thursday afternoon, start would be given at noon on Friday.
We stayed at the camping site next to the hotel where the accreditation, race office, start and finish would be located.

Sara would be racing in the Elite ladies category. Great names such as belgian Champion XC Githa Michiels, belgian champ XCM Alice Pirard, multiple Stage race winner Sally Bigham, etc...

I started in the Masters category, two start boxes behind Sara.
As my start this year is not so explosive anymore, I don't try to catch up with her too fast.

Baby ready to rock

I feel happy when I don't catch her at all. That means she's rocking...

Hard day at the office

Luc our photographer

Our personal friend and photographer Luc Wilms also showed up, pictures were guaranteed this time.

The first day I stood still for approximately 15', helping out one of the ladies who was struggling with a ripped tyre. Perhaps you can guess who I helped. This is her Van.

Who's Van might that be?

Sara was long gone, and I finished 2' behind her. GOOD FEELING!

Profile day 1

On Saturday the ride would be longer, so I had more time to catch up. Honestly, finishing together is also a GOOD FEELING. Sara managed to move up some places in the standings, and also could keep some energy to the end of the race.

Profile day 2

Saving energy...

On Sunday as usual we start for a 100km and over 3300 altitude meters. The law is harsh, but it is the law. We need to finish this one, otherwise, NO finishers' shirt at the finish. And I want it.

Profile day 3

Sara rode a fantastic stage race in La Roche, resulting in a nice 14th place in the GC.
Well done.

We both got the shirt.
Yeaaahhhhhh!!!!!

Knowing we were riding a 32 teeth, which slowed us a bit down on the steep technical climbs, but the 30's are ordered and on the way. A hint, they won't be round anymore...

We got home on Sunday evening, tired but satisfied.

On Monday we got a day off, time to get the camper and the bikes ready for the next one...

Recovering this week, with another week to go to Willingen, where we will be giving our best at the Ziener Bike Festival.
