48 hours after our last stage at the VTS, and not yet recovered completely...
This year, instead of the years before, I suffered from cold weather conditions. 4 out of the 5 races were in rainy and cold conditions. Only the last day I really enjoyed what I was doing. It resulted in the best stage for me. Disappointed about my lack of perseverance due to frozen fingers and feet, I must admit that Sara on the contrary did not seem to have much issues with all this. She rode an almost perfect race. 10th place in the GC Elite Women.. WAAUW!!! results
Most of the stages were very fast and not quite technical.
So we couldn't really benefit. The more technical, the better for us Belgians. Used to the technical Ardennes trails.
This is not a critic towards the organisation, what you see is what you get, and the Black Forest equals lots of shotter trails and fast uphill sections.
On the other hand, Mr Sauser, next year please hot showers and enough pasta for all contenders at all stage finish places. :-(
We were glad to have a driver who drove our Mobile Home during five days from start to finish. Thanks Frans. You did a great job.
Also glad to have met several old and new friends during the week. This is a great part of our motivation to continue racing internationally.
Thanks for all the encouragements and the chats before and after the race.
Thanks once again to all our sponsors. Baloise Insurance, so we don't have to wash our jerseys and bibs everyday. Sports 2 for supplying the FUEL. Crankbrothers for making it possible to ride with super great wheelsets and cockpits.
Now a little rest for this week. Some slight training will do.
Still to come: VULKAN EIFEL BIKE MARATHON on sept 13th and some smaller chrono rides till end of september.
Peter
