We were both totally wrecked after a long ride home with the camper from Riva del Garda to Leuven.
Today is big washing day. Sara's already working, and I've got one day spare to do the clean up. What a mess after a week of horrible weather conditions. Hope I'll get the bibs and jerseys operable again.
About the race, I can be only satisfied that we've finished. The result is a bit disappointing, but already the first day we got stuck in the rear due to mech probs. We lost two hours repairing and swearing. We knew what to do the rest of the week: catch up places in the GC.
That's what we've did. From 42nd to 18th place in GC. Weather conditions were terrible at some stages, starting procedures weren't respected, stuck in traffic,... Al those nasties together we managed to ride it out, and I'm very proud of Sara who raced like hell every day, and who gave the best. Congrats Baby (my Trailqueen). Results
The Canyon bikes did wonderful, the Schwalbe Tyres did not once let us down. Sports 2 provided the right supps. And I think Baloise Insurance can be proud about the achievement.
Hoping to get some nice pictures soon, here are some impressions.
Thanks to all the racers who supported us, Walter and Elena, the guys from GRANFONDO TEAM who yelled several times to make me ride harder in front, And CONGRATULATIONS to all FINISHERS of the Transalp 2014. For the unlucky ones; next year there's another one coming...
One week of recuperation now, and than loading for the next one. VAUDE Transschwarzwald. We'll be racing single this one, and I'm sure Sara will be strong. So beware ladies....
Sara: " I'm really proud of my baby too we had two days off cold and wet conditions with 5°C on top of the mountains by foot waiting to decent! Peter was freezing and shivering but kept going! Thats the way to go in a team."
