Raid des Hautes Fagnes

Sunday 22th June isnt't just any day. We'll be at the start of the mother of all marathons in Belgium. Often one of the toughest races of the year. Last year the weather was dreadful, this year it would be sunny :) . 115 K's of technical up and downhills and one off the best organisations in the Belgium MTB scene. I had to start in box A and the other girls could start in front of me in the TOP box, Peter was even further behind. My plan; Race as hard as I could! And so I did, during the first climb I managed to get into 4th position. A few k's before the first feeding zone Peter passed me and he took care of my first bottle so I could ride on. When he catched me up I told him he could race on and go for it. A little luck for me, bad luck for the other girls. During the race I passed Kristien en Kim who both had flat tires. Kim was able to catch me again, but had another flat after a tricky downhill. At that point I was just trying to keep ahead. It worked out. Before the finish line I spotted Peter yelling, I finished 2nd! After just a bit more than 7 hours on the bike.

Happy day's 3 weeks in a row on the podium. Hattrick?
